BOTOX
The Botulinum toxin reversibly relaxes the muscles lying under the skin. Facial lines formed by the pull of these underlying muscles will then diminish or disappear. It is used for facial line softening including: forehead furrowing, eye lines (crow’s feet), frown lines between the eyes and scars. It is also used for preventing excessive perspiration.
Hyperhidrosis - Excessive underarm sweating
Hyperhidrosis is the condition of excessive sweating. Sweating is one of the most important ways in which the body loses heat. People with Hyperhidrosis produce sweat in amounts far greater than needed to control their temperature. Botulinum toxin can be used to decrease the amount of sweat produced and thus improve this condition.
DERMAL/SKIN FILLERS
Temporary skin fillers are used to fill deeper wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes and mouth. They can also be used on the deep lines that develop between the nose and corners of the mouth and for scar reduction.
1. Restylane
Impressions of perceived beauty change with time - as do our faces as we age. Restylane is a crystal-clear, non-animal, bio-degradable gel based on a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instant and Restylane gives natural and long-lasting enhancement.
Other products in the Restylane range include Perlane, Touch and Vital.
2. Hydra Fill
Hydra Fill is a bio-degradable hyaluronic acid based implant that is injected directly into the skin to help preserve and restore youthful looking skin. Hydra Fill is available in three formulations, depending on the types and severity of the facial lines to be treated.
3. Zyderm / Zyplast
FDA approved in 1981 and 1985 respectively. These are bovine collagen-based dermal fillers and remain widely used, safe and effective choices for smoothing lines, wrinkles and scars, and for defining the lip border. A skin test is required 4 weeks prior to administrating the product.
4. Evolence
Evolence is porcine collagen- based derma filler. Evolence provides long lasting treatment for soft tissue deficiencies, especially facial lines and wrinkles. No skin test is required prior to treatment with Evolence.
5. Isolagen
The Isolagen process works by stimulating your own skin cells to actively grow in the laboratory before being reintroduced into your skin, thus harnessing your body's natural restorative powers.
6. Radiesse
Radiesse has demonstrated durable and safe results in many patients, and offers benefits when compared to some of the other available soft-tissue implants. No patient pre-testing is required due to the unique natural product formulation and bio-compatibility profile. Radiesse will remain soft and pliable and will take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue, thus offering the patient a durable cosmetic effect. The effect can last up to 2 years.
7. Sculptra
Sculptra works in the lower layers of the skin in order to smooth and firm the treated areas of the face. Sculptra is a unique substance which is gradually and naturally broken down by the body. Sculptra is an immunological inert substance, so that no allergy tests are necessary before beginning treatment. A course of 2 to 4 treatment are usually required to restore the volume loss that occurs in the aging face.
